Rebuilding a Gen1 G17. Bought the gun in pieces from a guy. Several pieces were missing.
Installed a new OEM 5# trigger spring, new OEM recoil spring assembly, new extractor plunger assembly, new JG striker assembly, New Wilson Combat connector (I love these, this is now my 3rd.) and now a new JG OEM enhanced trigger shoe w/bar.
My other 2 Glocks have a "snappy" trigger break and reset. Both have JG OEM enhanced trigger shoes (shoes only, no bar) and the same Wilson Combat connector as this G17. The other Glocks are a Gen 3 G30 and a Gen3 G19. The triggers work fantastic in those. They both have OEM strikers.
After assembling this G17 and trying the trigger, I thought how in the world do I now have a 2# trigger feel? Extremely short pre-travel and a really short reset is great, but a 2# trigger pull?
So, got out the trigger gauge and to my surprise it pulls 4# every single time. "Cant be" I said to myself. Measured the pull again. 4 more pulls, all 4#. Pulled trigger numerous more times with my finger and it feels like a 2# trigger pull.
Thought about it for awhile. How can this be? Went to my other 2 Glocks that also have 4# trigger pulls and they feel completely different. They feel like 4# triggers. They only have the JG OEM enhanced trigger shoes, no bars or JG strikers, they have the same Wilson Combat connectors in them and I thought they were fantastic, and they are, I love them.
This trigger is soo smooth it's unbelievable. The trigger break and reset is now more of a "snick" (if that's a word) now. I may want to adjust the connector outward a bit so that I have more of a snap when the trigger breaks and resets, I find I can pull through the initial trigger break if I'm not careful. I never touched the pretravel or overtravel adjustments as they were perfect as they came.
There is definitely a "wall" but it's soo easy to pull past now because it's so darn smooth. I'm in disbelief that a Glock trigger can be this smooth. It's not a 1911 break, I have a few of those, it's a Glock for Gods sake, it never will be. But it's unlike any Glock trigger I have ever felt.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. How he does it is beyond my abilities. Nice job JG. Nice job.
